Your hair can predict a heart attack even months before it really happens
Every change of our body is reflected through our hair.
Some scientist from Canada investigated how financial problems, stress at work or relationship problems can increase the risk of cardiovascular diseases, and they noticed one biological sign that can predict a heart attack. Hair.
High level of stress hormone cortisol can be an indicator of cardiovascular problems. Cortisol is usually measured by blood test, urine or saliva analysis. All of these examples show levels of cortisol days or hours before the analysis. Hair on the other side, grows approximately one centimeter per month, and a strand that is 6 inches long indicates stress for a long period of time, say professors Stan Van Mind and Gideon Koran of the University of Western Ontario.
They arrived to this conclusion analyzing hair samples of 56 people that have had a heart attack and comparing those results with the analysis of hair samples from people who do not suffer from cardiovascular diseases, but some other kind of diseases.
